King of 1000 Meters 2026 Brings Together Iceland's Top Long-Range Shooters

On Sunday, July 5, 2026, the King of 1000 Meters 2026 competition was held at the shooting range of the Keflavík-Hafnir Shooting Club. The event was a great success, attracting many of Iceland's finest long-range shooters for a day of highly competitive and exciting shooting from the very first shot to the last.

The competition was founded and organized by Bjarni Valsson, who developed the event based on the American King of 2 Miles format. His goal was to create an Icelandic version that would challenge competitors with the same demands for precision, skill, and preparation while adapting the format to Icelandic conditions. The result was the King of 1000 Meters, which has already established itself among Iceland's long-range shooting community.

Weather conditions were generally favorable throughout the day. Winds remained relatively light but occasionally shifted into sudden gusts, creating additional challenges for the competitors. In long-range shooting, even small changes in wind speed and direction can significantly affect a bullet's trajectory, making accurate wind reading, experience, and sound judgment essential.

The atmosphere throughout the event was outstanding. Competitors displayed excellent sportsmanship and mutual respect while demonstrating an exceptionally high level of skill and professionalism throughout the day.

After a hard-fought competition, one shooter emerged as the clear winner. He delivered an outstanding performance, missing only one shot at the 500-meter stage, a remarkable achievement that highlights the precision, experience, and concentration required to succeed in this demanding sport.

1st Place: Stefán Eggert Jónsson – King of 1000 Meters 2026 with 18.071 points.

2nd Place: Gísli Rúnar Kristinsson with 14.091 points.

3rd Place: Kristinn Guðmundsson with 13.363 points.

The King of 1000 Meters has once again demonstrated that long-range shooting has a strong and growing presence in Iceland. The organizers would like to thank all competitors for an outstanding day and are already looking forward to hosting the competition again in 2027.
